Smile-a-Gram – A Little Horse Sense

May 24, 2012

We stand next to the barb-wired fence, our manes floating gently in the brisk Kansas wind. Do you ever wonder what it’s like to be a horse?

We are like you in many ways.

We are different sizes. We are different colors. We are fun loving. We are all beautiful in our own unique way.

Yet we are different than you too.

White, brown, or black – we don’t judge our brothers and sisters by their outward appearance. We don’t spread rumors and we don’t do intentional harm to others. Nor do we take more than we need.

We may not possess the thinking power that you do, but maybe that’s part of your problem – you’re using your intelligence wrongly. Maybe you could learn from us.

Pull over in a safe spot and watch us the next time you get a chance.

*The horses in the picture can be seen frolicking on the farm between St. John and Stafford on the north side of Old Highway 50.
