The City of St. John and Stafford County had a formal open house and ribbon cutting ceremony to formally open the new combined City/County fire station. This project was the culmination of a lot of work in planning, presentations, and then the actual work itself. Firefighters built the entire office and loft area of the fire station.

The two agencies were housed in separate facilities before this building was built, even though a lot of gear and equipment was shared by the mostly “same” firefighters. The geographic center location of the City of St. John makes it the logicaly position for the county to house specialized equipment/trucks. This was not possible with the two small truck bays that were available before.

The total cost of this project was just over $121,000. Salvaged items from the annex building helped defray the cost of the new building.
