Multi-County Wild Fire

November 4, 2010

Brush truck destroyed by fire

Firefighters from Stafford County, Reno County, and Pratt County fought a large wildfire that started eight miles south of the City of Stafford.  The fire took over five hours to contain and extended from Stafford County into Pratt County.

Wind gusts of up to 30mph caused the fire to race across heavy grass and corn stalk fields.  One of Stafford County’s trucks was overtaken and destroyed by the fire when the engine stalled and it couldn’t be restarted.  The two firefighters who were in the truck were not injured.

The exhaust of an all-terrain vehicle was the cause of the fire.
